Sue's broad-ranging expertise includes catchment-based environmental landscape planning (a member of the former Sydney Harbour Catchment Management Board), applied ecology, horticultural science, arboriculture, plant selection, soils, community consultation and environmental landscape design and planning.

Sue specialises in environmental site assessments and planning, arboriculture and the selection of indigenous
plants to meet functional, aesthetic and environmental requirements. She also has substantial experience as an expert witness on tree and environmental landscape matters in the Land and Environment Court.

Sue has been appointed to many committees, boards and assessment panels and is a member of a number of different professional associations.
 

Barbara worked with Harry Howard on the National Gallery and High Court Precinct landscape in Canberra, now listed
on the Register of the National Estate. Other projects completed in his office include Sawmiller's Reserve (North Sydney) and a range of parks in Lane Cove and Strathfield.
In Fiji her projects included the landscape of the Oceania Centre at the University of the South Pacific and most notably, the design and construction of Raintree Lodge,
Fiji's first ecotourist resort.

Barbara's focus is on environmental design, the use of indigenous plants and local materials to help create a sense
of place and the harvesting and recycling of water resources. She has recently completed a PhD, Modernism meets
the Australian Bush: Harry Howard and the 'Sydney Bush School' of landscape architecture
, and has taught in the undergraduate program at UNSW.

Over 5 years experience in Sydney, working frequently with local government on public domain projects.

Recent projects include Naremburn Park Master Plan, Oatland Golf Course Landscape Plan for Dam Extension works, Landscape Analysis and Concept Plans for private residential development adjacent to an environmentally sensitive landscape.

Past projects prior to joining BioDesign include preparation of master plans, detailed design and construction drawings for children’s playgrounds and pocket parks, masterplanning and coordinating environmental restoration programs, coordinating and implementing plans of management, community arts programs and Section 94 programs, and community consultation coordination in Liverpool and Marrickville LGAs.


 

BioDesign employs a casual Graduate Landscape Architect to assist the other team members in data collection, computer graphics and office management.
