Science on the Swan: 9 - 11 May 2022

 

Western Australian Health Translation Network’s (WAHTN) annual health and medical research conference, Science on the Swan, is ready to showcase the very best of research and scientific endeavour in Western Australia. Based on the central theme of ‘Creating Impact’, the audience will include health innovators, researchers, clinicians, health service provider executives, medtech, biotech and digital health industry leaders and commercialisation professionals.

 

On the 9th May, ‘An Introduction to Biodesign’ session is scheduled, presenting an overview of Perth Biodesign, Biodesign Australia and our current offerings. The conference will be held at The Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from the 9th May to the 11th May.

Venturer Workshop: 12 May 2022

 

This series of Australia-wide workshops is run in partnership with BiointelectARCS Australia and Biodesign Australia, subsidised by the REDI initiative powered by MTPConnect. The one-day workshop will provide an understanding of available funding models and investment environments to ensure participants are partner and investor ready. The workshop is best suited to those who are developing a medicine, medical device, biologic, or medical software / digital health technology, but all are welcome to register. The workshop will be held in Perth at The University of Western Australia on the 12th May. Read more and register here.

Healthcare Activator – Texas Medical Center

& Australian BioBridge 2022

Applications are officially open for Australian medtech and digital health companies to apply for the Healthcare Activator program. Successful companies will be invited to spend six months at Texas Medical Center (TMC), to grow their business in the US market, with customised support and connections from US health systems, mentors, investors, and other curated resources. TMC will provide office space with other healthcare start-ups and the potential for investment from the TMC Venture Fund. Read more and apply here.   

New Industries Fund: WA Innovator of the Year

 

The Innovator of the Year (IOTY) awards outstanding Western Australian companies that have developed an innovative product, technology or service. The WA IOTY program has showcased innovative and entrepreneurial individuals, businesses and creative minds since 2006. The program has benefited many of those who have participated, as well as the broader community of WA. The 2022 program is now open for applications. Read more here.

AusBiotech: 25 - 28 October 2022

 

This year, Australia's largest Life Sciences Conference, AusBiotech 2022, is coming to Perth. AusBiotech 2022 is supported by Host State Partners, the Government of Western Australia and Business Events Perth. It will feature a three-day programme, BioIndustry Exhibition, Early-Stage Investment Forum, AusPartnering, welcome function, conference dinner and closing ceremony. Read more and register here.   

AusBioInvest: 27 October 2022

 

AusBioInvest is also coming to Perth this October to drive investment and collaboration in life sciences and medical research. This conference is also supported by Host State Partners, the Government of Western Australia and Business Events Perth. It will feature keynote sessions from investment leaders, partnering opportunities and an exclusive investor-CEO dinner event. Read more here

APSA-ASCEPT Joint Conference 2022

 

Submission is now open for symposia proposals to be presented at the ASPA-ASCEPT Joint Conference to be held in Perth this November. The theme of the conference is ‘local and global partnerships to drive innovation and impact’ and will bring together world-class experts and emerging researchers from around the globe to share and discuss pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, and toxicology research. The deadline for submitting proposals is Monday 30th May 2022. Read more and submit your proposal here.

Perth Biodesign For Digital Health 2022

 

Perth Biodesign’s four-month digital health course is currently underway with multidisciplinary teams creating innovative solutions for unmet clinical needs. Under the expert guidance of our course directors, mentors and partner, Skills of the Modern Age, teams have used innovation methodology to discover and define healthcare challenges. They are now in the process of solution ideation and development of a functional digital health prototype to test with end-users. Learn more about the teams and mentors here.

iPREP Biodesign Round 1 2022

 

The iPREP Biodesign program places teams of PhD students into businesses to work on industry-defined projects for seven weeks or three months. Students also receive weekly training on Biodesign methodology and professional skills and a scholarship package.

The program is led by the University of Western Australia and networks across Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University, University of Notre Dame Australia & Macquarie University. Currently, seven healthcare partners are leveraging research expertise from multidisciplinary teams of PhD students. Learn more about the teams and partners here.
